A final fairwell....

This week has been one of the most bazaar/ amazing weeks of my life. Any question that I had before as to whether there is a god or if signs and destiny are real ,its gone.

I have been toying with the idea of moving to NYC for the past year and this week I took my biggest step.

I flew to NYC this week for some interviews. While I was on the way there I sat next to an amazing woman that just happened to be a designer too. She is the head designer and CEO of her company and has been in the business for many years. I was dazzled and both shocked b\c what are the chances of sitting next to a woman that too moved to NYC when she was 24 and followed her dreams of being a designer and 30 years later she is sitting next to me telling me to pursue my dreams. Besides her occupation this woman was incredible and gave me so much information and advice. It only helped to confirm in my mind that maybe this was the right step for me....... First sign

Day two: I had an amazing interview for a company that is not fashion oriented, but the position and industry is so cool I could not pass up the opportunity. My interviewer was once in the fashion industry as well and just happened to go to college in Florida 1 hour from where I am from.... Second sign

Day three: My room mate and I went apartment hunting to just "look". When we walked into the building of where the FIRST apartment was it just happened to be where the leasing office was for all 40 properties we were interested in seeing. Not only was the main leasing office there, but the CEO of the company happened to just walk by as we entered the builing and took us to his office, looked at our apartment list and crossed out all 35 apartments and left us with 5 apartments he thought given our specifications would be good for us. We immediately went and saw them and BAAM!!!! We looked at 2 units in the same building and apartment 3 it was. It was the 3rd apartment we saw and it is apartment number 3. 33 is a religious number and to many people a very lucky number. We went back to the leasing office, signed the lease and got our keys. 2 hours later some one called that wanted to buy my car and that was it.... Third sign.

Day four: I had to come back to Miami today to get some of my stuff and muppets since I didnt think I was moving up so soon. On the flight I sat next to an incredible girl that was around my age. Her name was Lily. Lily has always been my favorite name and what I would name my daughter. We talked about fate, destiny and astrology. My favorite THREE things. I felt like I had known her forever. It was kinda bizaar. She told me how she loved NYC and was thinking of moving up there too, but thought it was kind of eratic to just get up and go and that right before she had gotten on the plane she was thinking this and when I told her my story of how I was just getting up and going she felt like it was a sign.... Final sign

So thats it. I am officially moving to NYC on Thursday. I am excited/scared, but I have my muppets and my great friend/ room mate lindsey that will be there for me. I couldnt of planned nor asked for an easier transition. My gaurdian angel must be exhausted from this week b\c he was pulling some serious strings up there.

While I am beyond excited for my new step I am a little sad b\c I will no longer be able to do FFF. There is no space to store my shop or sewing machine in my new place. While it has been an incredible year it is time to bid fairwell to my sweet child. I just want to thank all my customers for there many return purchases and all the great media that my small company gained in less than 1 year. I will miss you all!

Thank you for your love and support

Vibrant Vintage

Local designer puts new sparkle in old gems

By ANNIE VAZQUEZ

Ashley Nobbe

When it comes to revamping vintage, local designer Ashley Nobbe is the guru in Miami.

The 24-year-old Florida State University grad is known best for modernizing vintage frocks, tops, pants and accessories to suit what's hip in fashion.

Nobbe is also the gal that started the feather headband craze in Miami with her Poodlies collection, which is also made using vintage pieces.

“My grandmother is my inspiration,” said Nobbe, whose family is in the garment business. “She taught me how to sew and she really believes in me.”

Ashley Nobbe is a guru when it comes to revamping vintage and making it look hip for today's woman.

The East Kendall resident sells her vintage creations to several boutiques in Miami like Scarlett,IOS, Cream, Pink Blush, Swag and Cheap n Chic.

She also sells on her online boutique called Fabulous Fashion Finds.

All her one-of-a-kind pieces sell for under a $100.

Find shimmering sequin tops from the '70s, flower ruffled mini dresses from the '80s, and clutches from the '50s.

New to her line is Love Gemma, a of collection dresses, skirts and rompers made out of vintage fabric.

“So many girls kept asking me for clothes from the one-of-a-kind collection that I decided to launch it,” said Nobbe.

Love Gemma is still exclusive as only 15 pieces in each design are available.

Mountain air

I have been away the past couple weeks. I took a road trip to Georgia with my lover. We rented a cabin in the mountains. It was breath taking. We went hiking, went to farmers markets and sat on the front porch in rocking chairs and read. It was amazing. My phone didn't get reception for the 6 days i was there. It was euphoric. I love being disconnected from the world. I got to sit in silence and just be in my own mind and think about my life and all the great things that i have. The cabin was beautiful. I am sad we had to leave :(

Of course when i got to the bottom of the mountain( civilization) my phone started making loud startling noises. text message after text message, voice mails, emails.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I think my dream would be to live in a secluded place with my lover, sew beautiful things for people and once a month go into the big city and be with people for 3 days haha.. wishful thinking.. who knows anything can happen

Lots of catching up to do.

White Collar Crime

Fabulous Fashion Finds Reworked Vintage

bubble over!

Suspect: Ashley Nobbe of Fabulous Fashion Finds.

Wanted for: her killer revamped vintage.

Weapons: scissors, needle, and thread.

Crimes: Consider the suspect a master of disguise — reworking vintage garb into unique pieces. She has also been known to turn outdated, flouncy skirts into stylish bubble minis, moth-eaten sweaters into asymmetrical shirts, and tacky ’80s tops into off-the-shoulder cocktail dresses.

Accomplices: Although she has an arsenal of pieces available for sale at reasonable prices (less than $100), it’s said that she will consort with others about restyling. Unsuspecting victims meet her at her private studio, where she transforms their antiquated threads into covetable, one-of-a-kind garments.

Resolution: case clothed.

Available at Scarlett Boutique, 8267 South Dixie Highway (305-665-1234). For more information, go to fabulousfashionfinds.net. Map It

I'm going dress you up in my love...

Lots and lots to share with you all...

Thank you to those of you who attended style Miami.. It was a great turn out..

A few of FFF's signature bubble skirts will be featured in Closer magazine in either this month or next months issue. I will post the proofs when I receive them. The shoot was fun. Got to hang out and play all day and watch as they photographed some of my pieces on the models. Not bad for a random Sunday ;) Here are a few snaps from the shoot I took with my camera.

They even did a mini shoot of me. For what, I have no idea. So if random shots of me pop up on the internet looking like a loser don't be alarmed.

My best friend Nicole moved to NYC yesterday :( Made me very very sad, but I am excited and happy for her. I know it was the right thing for her.. Watch out NYC Nicole aka Butthole has been unleashed upon you.. Watch out

So, I decided this week that I am going to have a mass production line of re vamped vintage. There are a couple signature pieces of re vamped vintage that I did for myself over the years that I have not had the heart to sell or part with, so in order to compromise I have decided to mass produce... AHH!!! I found a vintage fabric distributor here in Miami, so the fabric will be vintage as well as the silhouettes. I am prettttttty excited... I am thinking of naming the line
"Ashley & Gemma" After myself and Doodles... My adorably scrumptious Himalayan cat.. Her real name is Gemma, but I call her Doodles aka Muppets... It's confusing...
I know. She actually responds to all of her aliases.. Poor thing lol..

I will be updating FFF in the next couple days. here is a sneak peek at some of my new re vamped items as well as Fabulous vintage finds
